It's obvious to me that when Kevin arrived here in Alabama, God used him to begin this ministry. AMM... as we all know is the acronym for Adventist Motorcycle Ministry...
A Ministry is ‘a governing body of ministers.’
A Minister is ‘a person who gives aid or service in response to another’s needs.'
Motorcycle ministry – people who enjoy motorcycling (or are connected with those who love riding) who give aid or service in response to the needs of others.
Yes, we are a ministry....
Psalm 115:3, 9 and 14 says "But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. O (AMM members) Israel, trust in the Lord; He is (our) their help and shield. May the Lord give (us) you increase more and more..."
In ministry, God's purpose will be served. To our human eyes we judge accomplishment by significant increase; whether it be in numbers, money or other human indicators of success.
As the present leader of AMM I believe God doesn't see it that way.
Success is measured differently by Heaven's standard, and I believe we (as a whole) should go by Heaven's standard.
Heaven's standard is:
To do good,
To edify one another
To avoid foolish disputes
To trust God to multiply His own work
And be ready to do good to all
Numbers are the least of our worries. Serving God with undivided hearts is the greatest of concerns at this time. I believe God is working in us all to do just that.
Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God?"
Romans 14:19 "Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another."
2 Timothy 2:23 "Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife."
Hebrews 6:13 "For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself saying, 'Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you; And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise."
Titus 3:1(last part), 2 "..To be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another."
1 Corinthians 3:7 "So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase."
2 Corinthians 2:17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.
God is our sustenance. He will provide whatever He choses is to be our increase. Let's continue to let His Spirit work in us. He'll give us unity, plans, ideas and ability to do His work. Let's trust Him to do His work through us.
